Causes:
By far the major cause of lung cancer is tobacco smoking. Ninety percent of all cases of lung cancer are thought to be caused by smoking. Other factors that may lead to lung cancer includes:
- Exposure to asbestos and toxic chemicals. Asbestos is a nuturally occurring mineral that was once used widely in many applications. it is found in homes and offices.
- other chemicals like arsenic, compounds of chromium and nickel, mustard gas, vinyl chloride, and emissions from cake ovens.
- Radon gas, which is often formed in rocks that contain radioactive materials. it is often found in basements of homes, office buildings, and factories built over such rocks.
- Air pollution.
